Winnaar Expeditie Award op tour langs scholen

Stefa Schoegje, the winner of the Expedition Award 2022 , used his prize worth 2,500 euros to take a two-day tour with the Plastic Fantastic Truck through Flevoland. He visits a number of schools.

The Plastic Fantastic Truck travels through Flevoland past secondary schools and primary schools. Goal: make young people aware of their plastic use. For example, the truck is located at the Porteum school community in Lelystad and students can make something new from old plastic themselves.

“We hope that students will learn something from it,” says Stefan from Save Plastics , a company that makes new products from old plastic. “That they learn to work with their hands to make something themselves and at the same time learn something about plastic recycling. For example, why it is important to properly separate your waste and that there are many ways to make beautiful products from it.”

And the reactions of the students, who made their own coaster or key ring from recycled plastic, were enthusiastic.

“It was cool that I found out that you can simply reuse plastic to make other things,” says Koen. “It’s simpler than I thought. I think we should reuse plastic more, that’s better for nature.”

“It was actually quite easy,” says Manuel. “It would be nice if this was done more often. I now see plastic less as waste but as something that you can use for things.”
